The Light Beyond the Trees

Prince Edward Island, Canada | Late Summer 2017

While exploring Prince Edward Island during my 2017 road trip, I came across a scene that immediately caught my attention. Tucked into a dense grove of evergreens, a charming white lighthouse stood quietly among the trees, its small illuminated lantern glowing beneath the warm colors of the evening sky.

Having traveled all this way to experience the storybook landscapes that inspired Anne of Green Gables, I found myself especially drawn to the island's quieter, unexpected discoveries. Rather than standing prominently against an open stretch of coastline, this lighthouse appeared almost hidden within the forest, surrounded by rolling meadows and a beautiful canopy of trees.
