High above treeline in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, this alpine basin reveals the raw structure of the Bighorn Mountains. Carved by glacial movement, the landscape holds a quiet permanence—steep rock walls, scattered snowfields, and a small lake resting at the base of the cirque.

Captured from above while leaning out of a small aircraft, this perspective brings a rare vantage into view—one that reveals the full shape of the terrain in a way the ground never could. Jagged peaks rise in the distance beneath a sky layered with shifting cloud cover, as light moves across the basin in brief, passing moments.
