Frosted on the Big Horn Pines
Captured along the southern edge of the Bighorn Mountains, this scene came together in the stillness after a passing storm. Overnight frost and light snow settled into the forest, softening the landscape and muting the contrast between each layer of trees.
At the center, a single tree stands out, coated in frost and catching what little light filtered through the overcast sky. Surrounded by darker evergreens, it becomes a quiet focal point, drawing the eye without demanding attention. This image was taken while passing through on the way to Thermopolis, where every turn revealed a version of the landscape reshaped by weather.
