An Unexpected Majesty

I wasn’t looking for wildlife that morning.

My camera was pointed toward the sunrise shining on the mountains, photographing the landscape along Boreas Pass outside of Breckenridge, Colorado, when my husband suddenly caught my attention and pointed behind me. Across the valley, about 150 yards away, a bull elk had quietly emerged among the trees.
